Xiaomi app store hits 1 billion downloads in 391 days

Xiaomi announced that its own app store has hit 1 billion downloads in just 391 days. All these downloads came from roughly 17 million users who have conducted 1.3 million searches and 5 million downloads per day.

The Chinese company doesn’t just offer free downloads. Aside from the general MIUI App store, they operate the Game Center which is bringing in 10 million Yuan in revenue per month!

Pretty impressive and as far as we can tell, Xiaomi is just warming up. Their plan is to move 20 million smartphones this year, and we have no reason to believe they won’t achieve that goal. The newly launched Xiaomi Red Rice is selling like hot cupcakes and that will likely be the case with the upcoming Mi3 flagship as well.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is looking for expansion to other markets, having recently hired Google’s Hugo Barra as the Vice President of Xiaomi Global.

Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.
